About Las Obras
Las Obras de Nuestra Madre de las Americas is a community and faith-based organization devoted to Strengthening the health, wellbeing and unity of the Latino Family within Faith-Health partnerships so that children can thrive in loving, safe and nurturing home environments.
We offer programs and services to parents, youth, children and individuals and also assist health-care providers in creating optimal conditions so that their services are aligned with the Latino families’ cultural, religious and social values. We also train lay community workers to use our method so they can become Tutores de Vida (Life Coaches) within their communities, assisting those in need and becoming a resource to healthcare providers and community organizations. Since 2002 we have been serving our communities in the North Texas area with our three divisions of services and programs. Our dedicated staff of leaders serves families and allows us to move forward with our mission. María del Carmen Uceda founded the organization because she saw the unmet needs of our community through her personal experiences and also by serving families. As an advocate for Latino families, she brought together resources and programs that would allow each member of the family to remain united and thrive. We believe that the cultural, family and religious values of individuals are important and should be taken into account when developing programs and services. As such, the conditions necessary for families to be stronger will blossom and families will be able to grow and share those values. To learn more about us, please do not hesitate to contact us . |
